With five hours of labor and only thirty minutes of pushing, Josephine May greeted the world at 12:50 p.m. on January 15, 2008.
By most accounts that seems like an easy labor, and with the exception of excruciating back labor and the epidural not working on one side of mom’s body – it was! Arriving at a lengthy 20 inches and mere 6 lbs. 7.8 ounces, this little one didn’t waste any time leaving her womb although she was induced two weeks before her scheduled due date because of mom’s growing preclampsia.
She’s here and is ready to be Josie, whoever that is. It wasn’t easy to tell in those early days of squeaks and endless daytime snoozes. She responded equally to tunes by Mozart, Pink Floyd, and her parents’ favorite, The Beatles. Proud dad marveled at her fascination with her Minnesota Golden Gopher mascot mobile.
Eight months later, she’s still long, lean, and full of determination. Watch out kitty Toby. She crawls so fast now it’s only a matter of time before she finally grabs ahold of that tail. Standing is her new favorite pastime and already she experiments letting go and trying to hold her balance. Each parent can’t wait to see what this active, cheerful baby does next.
